York High School Varsity Poms/Competitive Dance Team has advanced to state competition for the 10th year in a row.
The York Poms qualified after an outstanding performance at Sectionals Saturday, Jan. 25, at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview. The girls performed in the 3A-1 Division among a total of 14 teams. The top six teams advance to State competition. York finished in sixth place.
The team, coached by Ashley McDonough and Michelle Rodriguez, performs at all York football and basketball home games.

Team members are Nicole Kubiesa (captain), Maddie Peterson (captain), Vera Abreu, Teagan Barnes, Ellison Bonnor, Carrie Cotter, Anna Euteneuer, Jackie Fechner, Alyssa Garelli, Celina Granger, Niveen Hennein, Holli Kulpaka, Marissa Marshall, Mia Nicosia, Allegra Sciaccotta, Taylor Vorel, Britta Wakenight, Brooke Wrasse and Abby Wright.
The State meet will be held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, in Bloomington.
