York Girls Tennis Finishes 22nd At State Tournament
Blaire Porter and Angela Avgerinos earned All-State status for the second year in a row.
Below are the results from the IHSA State Tennis Tournament. York finished with 9 points as a team, which was good for 22nd place.
"We had a great group of girls this year," York Girls Tennis Coach Tres Heimann said in a press release. "They were excellent competitors and had great team spirit throughout the season. Our girls really work hard at the game and enjoy the process.
Doubles team of Blaire Porter and Angela Avgerinos finished tied for ninth place by having five wins and two losses over the weekend. This gives them All-State (2nd Team) honors for this season. The two played at an extremely high level throughout the year, with a record 36 wins (team high) and eight losses playing against a very challenging schedule. This is the second consecutive year this duo has earned all-state status, with 64 wins and 15 losses over two years of playing together.

Blaire Porter ended her four-year York tennis career with a record 104 wins and 47 losses for fourth place on the all-time list in program history. Her game improved significantly each year she played. York’s other senior in the state lineup, Randi Wilson, finished her three-year career on varsity with 60 wins and 33 losses.
"They both were great captains this year and have been great players in our program throughout their four years," Heimann said. "We will miss them both as well as our other seniors on the team this year (Grace Driggs, Callie Hennessy, Julia Levin, Rachel Maniola and Annie Sieracki)."

Angela Avgerinos has a record 84 wins and 40 losses over her three-year career.
"We very much look forward to having her back next year," Heimann said.
