Why does the writer put a negative title onto this? They won second place in the state Lacrosse tournament by winning their way to the title game. So why can't a title read with more of that twist? "York High School Varsity Lacrosse takes second in state tournament."

That is it, that is all that is written. This is a major coup for Lacrosse in Elmhurst. Each and every person in Elmhurst should be so proud of these young men, some who did not start playing until their Freshman year. Lacrosse has taken Elmhurst by storm! Don Canfield, Tommy Coyne and the entire York lacrosse team should receive huge congratulations for taking second in State! This was no easy feat. The entire adminstration at York should stand up and take notice of these remarkable athletes.

Not much of an article. That's too bad considering the effort the boys put forth to make it to the Championship game. They were 4-1 in the playoffs. They were seeded 7th out of about 25 teams and went up against the number 1 team, Grayslake North, for the Championship. Grayslake North beat the Dukes during the regular season and featured the two top scorers in the entire state.
The York Lacrosse program is in its sixth year, but this was only the second year that lacrosse was a fully sanctioned sport at York HS. As one commenter posted before, most of the boys had never played lacrosse before their freshman year. There was no "feeder" programs in 3-8 grades as there are now. For the boys to have a winning season, let alone make the championship game, is quite an accomplishment. One point to make: there are actually two championship games, one for the "A" division and one for the "B" division. The "A" teams have programs that have been around for a while (examples: LT and Hinsdale Central). The "B" teams have newer programs. This is the division that the Dukes are in. The classifications , "A" or "B" do not reflect on the quality of the teams, only on how long the programs have been around. By winning the Lacrosse Cup Championship, Grayslake North automatically becomes an "A" team next year. In conclusion, please take the time and give these boys the credit that they have earned. York Lacrosse, both boys and girls, has a very strong future!

I agree with you but I don't know if we as just citizen's can do anything to stop that practice. IRead More wish that each cyclist had to have a license, and that it was enforced by laws and police, on the bike so that people could report occurrences and have the person receive a ticket just like a person driving an auto. That would make sense.

A couple of years ago, Villa Park installed "State Law- must stop for pedestrians" signsRead More on the roadways where the Great Western and Prairie Paths cross. I saw a big increase in path users barreling across the streets with no regard for the stop signs on the path.

I was really hoping that the Elmhurst Police would sound in on this info-I do understand kids willRead More be kids, but if one of them is hurt, that adult driver will need to live with that for the rest of their life-so let's come up with a solution for both bicyclist and cars to be in harmony. I really think that a step up in enforcement in the bicycle laws would help-just like the drunk driving laws-believe me the bicycle laws are just as important.
