Coach's Comments

This year’s team should be very competitive with a lot of new faces. We have four returners on the varsity this year out of 14 players. The lineup is coming together and we will have a very deep team up and down the lineup card. There will be great competition throughout the area as we will play a very competitive schedule.

Jack Hennessy, Michael Pettineo and Kyle Kopinski will be the captains of this year’s varsity team. They bring three years of varsity experience each to the table and are both very positive influences to the rest of our team. They have been great leaders on and off the court throughout the school year and have been great advocates of the York tennis program.

Singles should be solid with junior Jonathan Elsey (transfer from Timothy Christian). The second and third singles spots will be split between freshman Alex Riddle, sophomore Austin Fite and freshman Brendan Peterson.

Kyle Kopinski will play the No. 1 doubles spot and will either be with Justin Loescher or Alex Riddle. The No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 doubles positions will be filled by Jack Hennessy/Michael Pettineo, Liam Hagan/Austin Fite, Scott Brasko/Connor Schonta, and Jackson Miller/John Jevitz. All five of these teams are very solid and bring different strengths to the table.

It should be a very exciting season.
