Pregame: York Takes On Willowbrook at Home Friday

If rankings are any indication, York (0-2) is favored to beat Willowbrook (1-1).

York High School is headed into the third week of the football season tonight without a win—not an enviable position. The Dukes lost their home opener to Rolling Meadows 42-0, and were defeated in Darien by Hinsdale South the following week, 49-21.

Willowbrook High School (Villa Park) won't have the comfort of its home turf Friday, Sept. 7, but it starts Week 3 with a 1-1 record. The Warriors defeated Glenbard East in a nail-biter 42-41 in their first game Aug. 24, but lost to Glenbard West the following week 49-7.

This week, the Duke's are hoping the third time's a charm, especially with home field advantage in this non-conference game. The Dukes' state ranking is higher than Willowbrook's, according to MaxPreps, which has them at #178 and #342, respectively. York slipped 93 points since the season began, according to MaxPreps.

Friday's game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at York's Clarence D. East Field, southwest corner of St. Charles and Spring Road in Elmhurst.
