Knights Have a Homecoming Challenge; Dukes Look to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

IC Catholic Prep vs Aurora Christian

It's Homecoming at IC Catholic Prep, and that might give the Knights (3-3, 2-2) just enough momentum Saturday to finish off Aurora Christian (5-1, 3-1). 

The Knights are coming off a tough 38-21 loss last weekend to the undefeated Broncos of Montini Catholic. For what it's worth, the AC Eagles also are coming off a 35-14 loss, their first of the season, against Marmion Academy (5-1, 3-1).

Kickoff for this non-conference game is 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Plunkett Park.

Here's a look at the rest of IC's schedule. It's all SCC Gold Conference play from here on out:

• Oct. 19 vs. Walther Lutheran (1-5, 1-3)—1 p.m. 
• Oct. 25 at Chicago Christian (Palos Heights) (2-4, 1-3)—7:30 p.m.

York vs. Downers Grove North

York has a lot in common with its opponent in Game 7. Both the Dukes and the Trojans are coming off wins last weekend, and both share a 3-3 overall record.

York got the better of Proviso West last weekend, bringing home a 27-20 win from the road. And the Trojans beat their cross-town rival, Downers Grove South, 42-21 in a non-conference game last week.

While the Dukes are 3-1 in WSC Silver, North has yet to win a Silver conference game. But the Trojans will have the home-field advantage. If the Dukes win this, they keep their playoff hopes alive.
