Iverson Does it Again: Earns NE-10 Award for the Fourth Straight Week

Freshman setter from Elmhurst dished out 104 assists in two matches played.

Stonehill College freshman Emily Iverson, a York High School graduate, has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week by the league office, it was announced Wednesday.

Iverson’s consistent play for the Skyhawks Volleyball Team has been recognized by the NE-10 in all four reporting periods as the freshman earned Setter of the Week honors on Sept. 7 and Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 13. Last week (Sept. 20), Iverson was tabbed as the Co-Rookie and Co-Setter of the Week by the NE-10 along with classmate Alex Tator of Los Angeles.

In a 1-1 week overall for Stonehill, Iverson recorded 13 assists per set and recorded 104 assists total. In a 3-2 loss to Bridgeport Sept. 20, the freshman setter dished out 64 helpers. She turned in 40 more in a 3-0 victory over Saint Michael’s Sept. 24. Iverson also added seven kills, two service aces and 10 digs on the week.

Among all Division II freshman setters in the country, Iverson currently ranks ninth overall with 9.80 assists per set this season. In the NE-10, Iverson leads all setters with 490 assists total, 74 assists ahead of second place, and is the only player at her position to average nine assists or more per set.

Iverson is also only one of four players on the Skyhawks to play in all 50 sets this season, amassing 31 kills, 21 service aces (second highest mark on the squad), 99 digs, and nine total blocks.

Stonehill is 12-2, 2-0 in NE-10 competition.
