It has been a dismal season for fans of York High School football. About all York can hope for this weekend is to end the season with one game in the win column.
The Dukes (0-8) travel to Hinsdale Central (6-2, 3-2 WSC) tonight, Friday, Oct. 19, to try and do just that.
The Red Devils have clinched a playoff berth and will be tough to beat on their own turf. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Central, 55th and Grant streets.
The outlook is much brighter for Elmhurst's other home-town high school team.
Immaculate Conception (5-3, 3-3 SCC) takes on Chicago Christian (2-6) at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Plunkett Park in Elmhurst.
The Knights became playoff eligible after a 55-13 win against Walther Lutheran last weekend. A win on Saturday will clinch a playoff berth.
