Elmhurst Symphony Supporters Invited to Participate in Human Race Fund-raiser

To celebrate National Volunteer Week, friends and supporters of Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra are invited to participate in the DuPage Human Race, a 5-k run/2-mile fitness walk organized by Giving DuPage, on Saturday, April 21, at Danada Forest Preserve near the DuPage Forest District Headquarters, on Naperville Road between Butterfield and Warrenville roads in Wheaton.

The race starts at 9 a.m.  All ages can participate; pets are welcome on the walk. Sixty percent of registration fees and 75 percent of dollars raised by ESO runners/walkers go the Symphony. Advanced registration ends April 15; go to www.dupagehumanrace.org to sign up for $25.  Participants can also register at 7:30 a.m. on race day, but at an increased fee of $35.

Funds raised for the ESO through the Human Race will help support the Summer String Orchestra, a joint venture of the Elmhurst Symphony and the Elmhurst Park District.  String players of all levels, age 12 and up, who are or have been part of an orchestra, will receive instruction from members of the Elmhurst Symphony. The goal of the program, which takes place in June and July, is for each student to grow musically and personally while experiencing a variety of music.  Participants will perform at a concert for family and friends upon completion of the program. For more information please visit www.epd.org.

If you are unable to participate in the race, you can support the Summer String Orchestra by donating here.
