Twenty one Elmhurst Taekwondo students are participating the the US Open Taekwondo Hanmadang this weekend. The Hanmadang is an International Taekwondo competition that is currently in it's third and last year in the Chicago area. Elmhurst students competing this year are Eric Esterly, Heather Esterly, Kevin Hassler, Alexis Huerta, Jordan Huerta, David Izzo, Olivia Izzo, Hannah Johnson, Aiden Johnson, Elizabeth Jones, Sonali Kumar, Lance Lai, John Lussow, William Om-Feld, Luca Ruhlander, Dave Stumpf, Mikey Stumpf, Cece Stumpf, Danny Stumpf, Gracie Stumpf and Katie Stumpf.
Students compete in poomsae, power breaking, self-defense, weapons, creative breaking and various kicking techniques.
Children ages 4 and under are free; Children ages 5 -12 are $10/1day, $15/2days; Age 13 and up are $15/1 day, $20/2days.
