Source: Illinois Wesleyan press release

Former York Dukes football player and current  Illinois Wesleyan junior defensive lineman John Worley was named to the 2013 American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' All-America Team.

Worley also is a first team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection, and was named to the BSN Network All-American team and the third team of the D3football.com all-North Region Team.

He also earned Illinois Wesleyan’s Best Lineman award after finishing the season with 39 total tackles and 12 quarterback sacks, the second most in an IWU season. This season, he ranked fifth nationally for sacks, accounting for 71 yards lost by opposing teams. His 19.5 tackles for loss ranked 10th for Division III.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the coaches themselves. The AFCA All-America Team only selects a first team, with 11 defensive players, 11 offensive players and 3 special teams players selected.

Worley is the 17th Illinois Wesleyan player to be named a first team All-American for football in the 122 year history of the school’s football program and the third player to be selected as a junior.
