Elmhurst Lacrosse Closes Out Second Season; Greyhounds Lose in Quarterfinals

League hosted championship at Berens Park last month.

Elmhurst Lacrosse brought its second season to close last month with league playoffs.

Elmhurst Lacrosse hosted the final championship rounds at Beren’s Park June 12 for the fifth-/sixth-grade, and third-/fourth-grade teams. The fifth-/sixth-grade team, the Elmhurst Greyhounds, made it to the quarterfinals.  

During the Greyhounds vs. Fox Valley game, the first quarter was back and forth with many chances for each team to score, but the quarter ended 0-0. The second quarter had the Greyhounds put some great shots on net, and the Fox Valley goalie made some stellar saves to keep the score tied. The Greyhound defense and goalie continued to hold off Fox Valley but ended the half down 2-0.

The third quarter was again tight, and with great defense on both sides the third ended with no score. In the fourth quarter, Fox Valley scored two goals. The Greyhounds tried to make a comeback but ended up losing 4-1.

Their growth as a team and as players truly showed in giving Fox Valley all they could handle. 

Other club results included five teams winning in the first round and one losing in overtime.

  • Third-/fourth-grade: Hoyas beat River Forest 10-5 and lost in overtime 7-6 to Lincoln Way
  • Fifth-/Sixth-grade: Blue Jays beat Glenview 6-2 and lost to Fox Valley after being tied at half time
  • Fifth-/Sixth-grade: Seawolves beat Homer Glen 9-6 and lost to Glen Ellyn 5-1
  • Seventh-/Eighth-grade: Big Red beat Lincoln Way 5-1 and lost to Wheaton 7-4
  • Seventh-/Eighth-grade: Black Knights lost in overtime to River Forest 7-6
