Elmhurst College Bluejays Make History After Scoring First-Ever Playoff Victory Saturday

Elmhurst College, for the first time in its history, made it to the NCAA Football Championships, and on Saturday the Bluejays won their first playoff game to advance to Round 2.

The 17th-ranked Bluejays beat 10th-ranked Coe College 27-24 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday.

An article on the Bluejays website quotes head coach Tim Lester:

"This is certainly a historic win for our program. We weren't going to be content to just make the playoffs, and our guys just kept fighting and found a way to win late like they have all season long."

Elmhurst earned an at-large playoff bid after winning the conference title in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Nov. 10. It was the Bluejays' first CCIW Championship since 1980.
