Cross Country: York Varsity Wins Richard Spring Invite

Dukes place three runners in the Top 10 at the Peoria Invite.

York High School Varsity Cross County Team took first place at the Richard Spring Invitational at Peoria's Detweiller Park Sept. 21.

York placed three runners in the Top 10: Alex Bashqawi, 4th (14:40); Nathan Mroz, 5th (14:42); and Matt Plowman, 9th (14:47).

Rounding out the Dukes varsity team were Kyle Mattes, 24th, Jon May, 36th; Jeff Noesk, 75th; and Matt Hogan, 124th.

O'Fallon Township High School and Hersey High School came in second and third, respectively. The attached videos of the boys race at the 1 mile, 2 mile and finish line courtesy of RunnerSpace.com.

The York varsity girls took 14th at the meet, with Dayle Mueller, 37th; Kathryn Hagstrom, 77th; Jeanette Morely, 90th; Alyssa Adam, 117th; Elizabeth Hagstrom, 134th; Kenia Sanchez, 149th; and Caitlyn Blum, 157th. Palatine won the meet, followed by New Trier and Glenbard West high schools.
