Cross Country: Dukes' Disappointing Day in Detweiller Park

Dukes take fifth place in the Class 3A Boys Cross Country Championship Saturday.

A 29th state championship was not in the cards for the York Boys Cross Country Team Saturday. No parade, no fanfare to close out Coach Joe Newton's 54th season at York.

The Dukes finished a commendable—if not surprising—fifth place in the Class 3A State Finals, after being ranked the No. 1 team in the country by XC Nation in late September.

First place honors went to first-time champion Hinsdale Central. The Red Devils led the pack with 99 points.
