Whiz Kids: Bryan Demons in Perfect Position to Help York's Cross Country Legend Continue

Demons bring home first-place trophies in all six divisions at conference meet.

The Demons Cross Country Team finished out a perfect season after competing in the conference meet held at Jackson Middle School in Villa Park on Sept. 26.

Michelle Kalchik, who coaches the Bryan team alongside Joe Fowler and
Barb Curran, said they couldn't be more pleased with the hard work and effort put forth by the runners.

"We began the season with 180 students and finished with 153 runners," says Kalchik.

At the conference meet, Bryan went head to head with four other schools in its division: Churchville Middle School, Blackhawk Middle School (Bensenville) and Jefferson and Jackson Middle Schools of Villa Park.

All in all, 10 schools were represented at the conference meet, including Elmhurst's , which competed in another division.

"Two of our runners took first place for the whole thing: (eighth-grader) Jon May and (sixth-grader) Haley Weiler," Kalchik said. "It was just unbelievable. That's really great honors for them."

"Everbody worked hard," she said. "They're all spectacular."
