Fishbain Named VP at Elmhurst Memorial

Ken Fishbain was named vice president of physician and ambulatory network development for Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare. He will oversee physician recruitment, physician alignment and network development strategies, and work with service line directors to support EMHC’s growth and expansion.

Fishbain, who has more than 35 years of experience in healthcare administration, was most recently chief operating officer at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park and a vice president in the Maywood-based Loyola University Health System, where he was responsible for all operations of Gottlieb and the integration of clinical programs between Gottlieb and LUHS.

Savage Promoted at Community Bank

Barbara Savage was named vice president and cashier of Community Bank of Elmhurst. The Elmhurst resident was previously a personal banker at CBE. She has nearly 30 years of banking experience, having served as vice president and cashier at First Security Bank of Wood Dale. She also was a key staff member at Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce. She follows Ruth Asmussen, who is moving into a part-time role after 20 years at CBE.

Elmhurst Residents Named 'Women to Watch'

Elmhurst residents Meredith Vogel and Melissa Bennis were named Women to Watch in the Emerging Leader category by Illinois CPA Society and the American Institute of CPAs for their notable contributions to the accounting profession, their organizations and the development of women as leaders. 

Bennis is a principal at Davis and Hosfield Consulting LLC, providing damages-related testimony and consulting services to corporate clients. She previously was the firm’s director of recruiting. She was a long-serving member in the Junior League of Chicago, an organization for women promoting volunteerism through action and leadership.

Vogel is managing director at Grant Thornton LLP. She received a part-time staff fellowship at the Financial Accounting Foundation and Financial Accounting Standards Board, and worked as the lead staff member on the Blue Ribbon Panel related to private company accounting standards. She is a board member and treasurer for the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic and board treasurer of Treetown Cooperative Nursery School in Elmhurst. 

They will participate in a panel discussion at the Women’s Leadership Breakfast at The Standard Club Nov. 15. 

Panda Windows and Doors Open in Elmhurst

Panda Windows and Doors, a Las Vegas-based glass wall systems manufacturer, opened a showroom at 129 N. Addison Ave. to exhibit its lift and slides, folding doors and multi-slide glass wall systems. Panda systems can be found in hotels, restaurants, casinos, resorts, night clubs and high-end residences nationwide.

The showroom will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment. Starting in 2014, architects will be able to book continuing education events at the showroom or at their firms. Panda’s AIA-approved course, Sustainable Solutions for Large Openings, also can be booked by contacting Panda project consultants.

Dealer Donates Auto Parts to York Students

York High School students studying auto body and collision repair will have a more hands-on learning experience in the classroom now that Arlington Heights Ford has teamed up with the Collision Repair Educational Foundation to donate $45,000 in auto parts to the school. 

Students now are able to work with parts from current makes and models rather than outdated, discarded supplies gathered from dumps. CREF hopes other dealerships will follow suit.

Jersey Mike's Helps Wreaths Across America

Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 9 -11, Jersey Mike’s Subs will give a free cookie to customers who make a donation to Wreath Across America, which lays hundreds of thousands of wreaths at the headstones of veterans during the holiday season. The campaign has raised nearly $100,000 through in-store donations and a matching initiative.

Jersey Mike’s will donate $1 for each customer who shares the WAA story via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, up to $25,000. Customers can tweet #givingmenu, upload a photo and tag it #givingmenu, share or tweet the giving menu, or follow/like social media pages to receive the match. Jersey Mike’s in Elmhurst is located at 297 N. York Road. 

Concussion Awareness for Young Athletes

Athletico Physical Therapy has teamed with the Chicago Blackhawks, Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois and NorthShore University HealthSystem to provide free baseline cognitive tests to all AHAI members ages 13 to 18 through Nov. 30 at Athletico Physical Therapy locations, including 111 W. Third St., Elmhurst. The testing is used to establish a baseline of normal cognitive function that can be used as part of a comprehensive clinical evaluation following any head trauma.
