Elmhurst Taekwondo team needs your help!

16 competitors from Elmhurst headed to Colorado for the largest Taekwondo tournament in the country! They need your help!!!!

There is a group of 16 students from Elmhurst that will be traveling to Colorado Springs, CO for the 2013 U. S Open Taekwondo Hanmadang tournament in June. This tournament will host over 1,300 participants from all over the world. The most famous Taekwondo practitioners from China, Taiwan, Korea, as well as European and Pan American countries will be represented (along with our own excellent hometown team).

At last year’s tournament, Elmhurst fielded a team of competitors 5 who earned more than their share of medals with a total of 7 medals!

This year’s competitors will be competing in many events, among them, multiple board breaking and different power breaking disciplines. The kids have been training hard year round to take on this years tournament and have already raised more than $3,400 through selling instructor led ‘boot camps’ and candy sales. They are currently $1,900 short of their goal and are appealing to the community to help them reach their goal.

Donations for their tournament entry fees and travel expenses can be made to the ‘Elmhurst Taekwondo Hanmadang Hopefuls’ account at any Charter One Bank location.
