Tuesday's District 205 Meeting With Fischer Parents Will Include Presentation on School Choice

Meeting is in response to parent concerns about racial tensions, segregation and loss of teachers at the school.

Correction: Public comments at this meeting will be limited to three minutes.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 will hold a meeting with parents of Conrad Fischer Elementary School students to discuss school choice and the English language learners program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the school.

The meeting is being held due to concerns about changes at Fischer School that have been expressed by parents at the last two School Board meetings.

The evening will include an overview of the ELL program at Fischer and a discussion about the pending school choice option, which the district anticipates will be available in the "very near future," according to a Talk 205 message to Fischer parents.

Members of the public will be invited to speak for up to three minutes, and the board will respond to comments, which is a departure from procedure typically seen at regular board meetings. A Spanish interpreter will be provided.

The meeting will be held in the Fischer gymnasium, 888 Wilson St., Elmhurst.
