District 205 Board Will Review Data from the Annual Illinois School Report Card

Elmhurst Unit District 205 School Board will hold a business meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the , 162 S. York St.

The public meeting will be preceded by a closed session at 6 p.m. for the purpose of discussing collective negotiations.

The open meeting will begin with a recognition of 2011-12 Those Who Excel Education Award winners. The Illinois Board of Education annually recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to education.

Response to Intervention Elementary Facilitator Katherine Groya received an Award of Merit in the student support personnel category; Pat Masterton, retired assistant director of business and operations, earned an Award of Recognition in the school administrator category; reading assistant David Polkow received an Award of Excellence in the educational service personnel category; and Lincoln second-grade teacher Stephanie Sparesus received an Award of Merit in the early career educator category.

The board will then hear public comment for up to three minutes on any subject.

Superintendent David Pruneau will then provide an overview of the fiscal year 2011 . Illinois' Better Schools Accountability Law requires the Report Card be presented at a School Board meeting and made available to parents. The report will be published on the district's web site, and parents will be notified in school newsletters when it is available.

The report card includes data on students' standardized test results, demographics, enrollment and class size, teacher information, whether schools and districts are making , district finances and more.

Pruneau also will present the district vision and mission statements agreed upon by his cabinet.

In addition to personnel and financial reports, the superintendent's consent agenda includes approval of the donation of a $1,300 Smart Board to Edison Elementary School, approval of several policy revisions, and approval to authorize staff to make public the state School Report Card.

Finally, the board will hear a report from the Performance Management Committee. The committee met Oct. 19 to discuss the superintendent's evaluation process.
