School Board Will Hear a Report on Student Fees for 2012-13

Board members also will elect president, vice president, and they are slated to approve construction work at Lincoln School, among other business.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 will hold its monthly business and annual reorganization meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the administration building, 162 S. York St.

The meeting will be preceded by a closed session of the board to discuss employment of an employee and pending litigation.

The first order of business on the public meeting agenda is recognition of York High School's Golden Apple Scholars, seniors Kelly O'Ryan and Nicholas Sorrentino. The award is presented to students who have demonstrated a passion and commitment to pursuing a career in education.

The board will then take public comments. Members of the community are invited to speak for up to three minutes on any topic.

Board members will then elect a president, vice president and secretary, and establish their regular meeting schedule as part of the annual reorganization.

Superintendent David Pruneau will then announce any Freedom of Information Act requests.

The board also is slated to hear two presentations: The first is on insurance renewal for 2012-13 for district employees, and the second is on proposed student fees for 2012-13.

Members of the Finance and Operations Committee and the Performance Management Committee will then present updates on their recent business.

Finance and Operations met April 18 and discussed the following items:

  • proposed technology budget and plan
  • March financials. The state owes District 205 $2.47 million to date.
  • EAV and new construction. If Elmhurst Hospital is successful in its bid to achieve tax-exempt status, the district will have to refund $950,000 in taxes to the hospital, resulting in a shortfall in the district's budget
  • student fees

Performance Management Committee met April 1 and discussed the following items:

  • district performance indicators
  • review of district job descriptions

In addition to personnel and financial reports, the superintendent's consent agenda will feature the following items:
