School Board Set to Enter $128,000 Lincoln School Weatherproofing Contract

District 205 School Board scheduled to approve bids, policy and other housekeeping items.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 School Board will meet in workshop format at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the administration building, 162 S. York St.

The board will first meet in closed session to discuss employment of an employee, collective negotiations and probable or imminent litigation.

The open meeting will begin with , followed by public comments. Members of the community are welcome to speak for up to three minutes on any topic.

After approval of minutes from previous board meetings, representatives from the Finance and Operations and the Performance Management committees will give a summary of what those two groups have been working on.

In addition to personnel and financial reports, the superintendent's consent agenda includes the following items:

  • approval of a contract for the lease of 21 print/copy/scan machines from Konica Minolta and leased through Providence Capital Network. The total monthly cost for the lease payment and printing is about $12,800, an estimated savings of more than $8,700 a month from what the district currently is paying. The district's 18 machines are at the end of their five-year lease.
  • approval to enter into a four-year service agreement with Commercial Communications for reprographic services at a cost of $4,665 per month for the first two years, with 2 percent increases in years three and four. The York copy center’s current five-year reprographic services contract ends June 30. The service consists of one staff member, two large reprographic machines and associated peripheral equipment and software.
  • approval of a bid for yearbook printing from Walsworth for the middle schools and from Herff-Jones for the high school. There is no cost to the district for yearbooks.
  • approval of a bid from April Building Services for $128,000 for Lincoln School weatherproofing and restoration
  • approval of a donation from the Emerson School PTA to Emerson School of $1,379 for a laminator
  • approval of policy revisions

The board will then vote on three items:

  • resolution to transfer money from the education and operations and maintenance funds to the debt service fund
  • approval of a resolution ascertaining prevailing wages
  • approval of a the appointment of Karen Stuefen as representative to the School Association for Special Education of DuPage County Board

Following a review of upcoming meetings, the board will take action on a matter involving collective negotiations that was discussed in closed session.

The board will then hear any reports or communications from board members.
