Linda Fehrenbacher has seemingly spent her whole adult a career in middle school and it looks like she’s going to stay awhile longer.
Fehrenbacher has been named the new permanent principal in Dist. 205’s Sandburg Middle School, taking over from Jeff Gail who has been acting as the school’s interim principal.
As a long-time middle school teacher and administrator, Superintendent Dave Pruneau said that Fehrenbacher brings a wealth of experience to the position.
“She also brings a passion and belief in middle school students that we value,” Pruneau said in his recommendation to the Dist. 205 school board.
Fehrenbacher is currently principal of Jefferson Elementary School, where she has overseen the transition of Fischer students to Jefferson as part of the school choice initiative. She has also shepherded the Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing Project, which will be implemented at the elementary level beginning this fall.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in Educational Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana She will begin at Sandburg on July 1.
