Power is On in Most District 205 Buildings; Summer School is a Go for July 2

Power outage forces Monday closure of Hawthorne Elementary School, however.

UPDATE Monday, 12 p.m.: The Elmhurst Unit District 205 Administration Building now has power and is open for business.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 let parents know at 10:30 p.m. Sunday night that the power is on at York High School, even though traffic lights and neighborhoods surrounding the school are in the dark.
 
Summer school and related activities will go on as scheduled at York on Monday, July 2, the first day of the second semester.

Bryan, Churchville and Sandburg middle schools, as well as at Conrad Fischer Elementary, also have power, so summer programs at those facilities also are on a normal schedule.

Hawthorne Elementary, however, was still without power Sunday night, so the Extended School Year program is cancelled for Monday. An email has been sent to notify ESY families. Also without power Sunday night is the District 205 Administrative Center, at 162 S. York St. The building will be closed on Monday.

ComEd saying it may be days before power is fully restored to the hardest-hit areas.
