Parents of English Language Learners Invited to Join Bilingual Parent Advisory Council

Meetings scheduled for April 2 and 30 at Churchville.

All parents of students in the English Language Learners program are invited to join the Elmhurst District 205 Bilingual Parent Advisory Council.

Council members participate in the planning, operation and evaluation of programs serving their students. It is comprised of parents, teachers, counselors and community members. The majority shall be parents and legal guardians of ELL students.

The Advisory Council reviews the grant application for transitional bilingual programs and transitional programs of instruction submitted annually to the state superintendent of education.

This parent group meets at least four times annually.

 Participants will work with Liliana Vazquez, a doctoral student from the University of Illinois, on the following topics:

  • April 2: Understanding School Organization and Education Policies
  • April 30: Developing Collaborative Relationships, Parents, Teachers and Administrators

Both sessions meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Churchville Middle School, 155 Victory Parkway.
