Crews repairing gas leak.

UPDATE 11:50 a.m. Monday:

District 205 officials are reporting that on the evening of Feb. 28, a resident reported the smell of gas. Nicor Gas was called and on the scene at 9 p.m. and discovered a leak in the service line leading to the north side of the building at 925 Swain, Elmhurst.  Nicor determined that the pipe could not be repaired and is working today to replace the pipe. Work is expected to conclude at the end of the work day today (March 1).

At no time was there a leak in the school building, said Buildings and Grounds Director Frank Schuh. However, no one is allowed in the building or on school grounds until the repair is complete. This means that all classes, meetings and before- and after-school activities, including Rec Station, have been cancelled. Parents were notified through the school’s emergency email and phone call center.
