Immaculate Conception Grade School Prepares Medieval Feast

The March 10 feast was attended by kings and court jesters, alike.

On March 10, sixth-graders at Immaculate Conception Grade School in Elmhurst participated in their annual Medieval Feast.

In recent weeks, students in social studies class have been learning about medieval culture.  At the feast, the students, who were dressed as damsels, queens, kings, knights, court jesters and friars, displayed coats of arms that they created.

Nancy Gerenstein, private party manager for Francesca’s restaurants, talked to the sixth-graders about the types of food that were commonly eaten in medieval times by different classes of people.  In addition, she explained how food was stored, prepared and then eaten without utensils.
