ICHS Students Earn AP Scholar Awards, Commended Student Status

AP students earn college credit or advanced placement.

Five students qualified for the National AP Scholar Award in recognition of their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement Exams.

Four of the AP Scholars were 2011 graduates of ICHS. They are Michael Bosworth (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign), Matt Kremske (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign), Kamila Kroczak (Loyola University) and Michelle Navarrete (Loyola University).

All four qualified for the AP Scholar Award by earning an average grade of at least 3 or higher on at least three AP exams (based on a 5-point scale).  The three qualifying AP exams for all four of these students were AP English literature and composition, AP calculus AB and AP US history exams.

During her senior year at ICHS, Kyleen is taking AP English and AP chemistry, and she's taking Calculus II at Elmhurst College as a part of the ICHS Senior Option Program.

Through more than 30 college-level courses and exams, AP provides students with the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement and stand out in the college admissions process.

Immaculate Conception also announced that senior Megan Sutton of Elmhurst has been named a Commended Student in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. Megan is a member of the National Honor Society, a Christian Service Leader, and the Assistant Editor of the Yearbook.  She is the Student Council Public Relations Officer for the senior class and a four year member of the Math Team. Although they will not continue in the 2012 competition for National Merit Scholarships, the Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
