IC High School Re-brands Itself With the Help of a Marketing Firm

ICHS is now IC Catholic Prep—the school for independent thinkers.

After celebrating Mass as a school community Tuesday, IC High School students, parents, and alumni gathered at an all-school assembly where school leadership announced the launch of its new brand.

The new identity, IC Catholic Prep, has also been highlighted in the creation of a new website for the high school

Effective immediately, the oldest Catholic, coeducational college prep high school in DuPage County will be known as IC Catholic Prep. ICCP serves students from more than 40 communities in the western suburbs.

Pamela Levar, president and principal, says the name change is part of a re-branding effort that will better define the position and mission of the school.

“The new name retains the heritage of our blessed Mother and the Immaculate Conception, it honors our mission as a Catholic school first and foremost, and it succinctly communicates our focus on preparing our students for college,” Levar said.

School leaders also revealed a new tagline: The School for Independent Thinkers.

“This is how we want people to think about us when comparing our school to the many other high schools in the area,” Levar said. “It reflects how we strive to develop our students. It reflects the mindset of the faculty and staff we employ today and we seek to recruit in the future, and it is what will ultimately differentiate us from neighboring Catholic high schools.”

Over the past two years, IC school leadership has engaged in countless hours of personal conversations with IC stakeholders, and as a result of the thoughtful feedback from students, parents, alumni, faculty and community members, the decision was made to move forward with a rebranding initiative for the school.

Professional consulting firm Ovus Ater was hired in July after being highly recommended by the Diocese of Joliet.  A Cambridge, Mass.-based company, Ovus Ater helps schools create a clearer choice in the minds of the audiences who matter most to them. Founded in 2001, Ovus Ater has closely collaborated with Catholic, Christian, independent, international, private and public schools in more than 20 states.

IC Catholic Prep also joined forces with a Chicago-based marketing and design firm, Leadtooth, to assist in creating a brand new website for IC Catholic Prep that provides a more clean, crisp and contemporary way of communicating with prospective families, alumni and friends. The new changes to brand identity and website will help students and their parents better understand the benefits of a high school education at IC Catholic Prep.
