York Township Democratic St Patrick's Day Dinner

John Nichols of The Nation and MSNBC Contributor will be the Keynote Speaker at the York Township Democratic Annual St Patrick Day Dinner as part of his Chicagoland book tour. He is introducing his new book: “UPRISING, How Wisconsin Renewed the Politics of Protest, from Madison toWall Street”, an engrossing, informative take on the mass demonstrations that broke out in Wisconsin in early 2011 in opposition to Gov. Scott Walker's attempt to strip public employees of their collective bargaining rights.

The dinner, on March 18th, 5pm at Drury Lane Oakbrook, will open with a book signing by the author during a reception, followed at 6:00pm by presentations by John Nichols and guest speaker Tim Carpenter of Progressive Democrats of America, and conclude with live music, 4 course dinner and awards.

Carol Davis, Chairwoman of York Township Democratic Organization, said "we are proud to be part of this book tour. The Wisconsin Uprising gave us all hope. The “fight back” was not by radicals but by everyday people – the 99%. They were school teachers, farmers, fire fighters, working men and women. They were you and me united the way we must be if middle class and the American Dream are to be saved.
John Nichols will address not just what happened in Wisconsin, but the movements it initiated and the possibilities of its future through individual actions united. For Democrats in DuPage County this is a message we all must hear.”
Michael Moore says: "John Nichols recognized right away that the fight in Wisconsin was about a lot more than one state. It was the fight we had all been waiting for, the one where people say, 'We have had it!'"
With right wing anti labor legislation and current attacks on Arizona public sector workers Michael Moore’s words could not be more profound.
Join us for this remarkable event!
