Dr. Steven Louis, one of a small number of orthopedic surgeons in the Chicago area who performs the less-invasive, more rapid recovery, Direct Anterior approach to hip replacement, is conducting a free, informational seminar on this revolutionary technique in total hip replacement. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place at the Westin Hotel – Yorktown Center, 70 Yorktown Shopping Center Drive, Lombard, IL  60148; call 630.330.6025 to register.

Dr. Louis has performed more than 400 anterior approach hip replacement surgeries on just as many pleased patients.  The Direct Anterior (from the front) Approach is less invasive, less painful and allows a quicker recuperation than traditional hip replacement surgery done from the rear or side of the body.  That’s because this technique is minimally invasive and allows the surgeon to replace the hip without detaching muscle from the pelvis or femur.  Consequently, the important gluteus muscles, which play a key role in hip function, are less affected than with traditional hip replacement surgery.

This sophisticated procedure depends on surgeon training and experience. Dr. Louis is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in the area of trauma, giving him an edge over other surgeons, because he is experienced in surgical techniques that spare as much tissue as possible.

With less tissue and muscle damage, patients return to normal activities sooner and are pain-free more quickly. For more information on the direct anterior approach, visit this website
