Elmhurst Unit District 205 School Board Expected to Reduce the $330 Activity Bus Fee Tonight

Agenda also includes a report on revenue projections for 2011-12.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 School Board will meet tonight at the administration building, 162 S. York St.

Before open session, the School Board will meet in closed session at 6:15 p.m. to discuss employment of an employee and collective negotiations, and to review and approve closed session minutes.

Open session, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will begin with recognition of the York boys track team and girls track team member Michelle Frigo.

The board will then receive public comment for up to three minutes per speaker on any topic.

Superintendent Lynn Krizic will then present the results of the transportation survey. Parents were asked to weigh in online with regard to their children’s participation in before- and after-school activities, their use of activity buses  and their desired fee structure for use of the activity buses. Parents support a $75 a year transportation fee with reduced bus routes, which will be up for approval later in the agenda.

This will be followed by a report on revenue projections for the 2011-12 school year.

After the board approves the minutes of the May 24 meeting, the superintendent’s consent agenda will be presented for approval. It will include:

  • Personnel report
  • Financial reports
  • Freedom of Information Act requests
  • Approval of donation to Lincoln School
  • Approval to open certain closed session minutes and keep all other closed session minutes closed
  • Approval to authorize destruction of verbatim recordings of closed session minutes
  • Approval of bank deposits
  • Contract renewal for special education transportation service
  • Approval of contract with Coca-Cola to supply vending machines
  • Approval of a policy on identity protection

The board will then vote to rescind the $330 transportation fee that was approved in March and approve a $75 transportation fee with reduced bus routes.

After approval of upcoming meetings (July 19 and Aug. 16) the board will take action on closed session items. The board will vote on employment contracts for the positions of director of research and assessment, and assistant principal at York.
