Elmhurst District 205 School Board Meets Wednesday to Discuss Technology Funding and More

Also, since no snow days were used, the last day of school is officially in sight: Wednesday, May 29.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 meets on Wednesday, April 10, this week, due to the Tuesday elections.

The meeting, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the administration building, 162 S. York, will be preceded by a closed session to discuss employment of an employee and "negotiations," according to BoardDocs.

The regular School Board meeting will begin with recognition of students who competed in the Knowledge Master Open, which pits teams of students from more than 500 schools nationally and internationally against one another. The following students from Sandburg Middle School earned second in the state and 22nd in the world:

Following student recognition, the board will hear public comments. Members of the public are invited to speak for up to three minutes on any topic.

The main topic of discussion Wednesday is all about numbers. Board members will hear a plan for technology funding for fiscal years 2013 to 2015, and review the 2014 budget.

Representatives of two of the board's standing committees, Board Improvement and Policy, and Curriculum and Instruction, will then give updates on what the committees are working on.

In addition to approval of the personnel report, the superintendent's consent agenda will include the following topics:

  • approval of the kindergarten through fifth-grade social studies instrutional materials
  • approval to display instrutional materials for new and modified courses at York High School
  • approval of a foreign exchange student coming from Kashiwara-shi, Osaka-fu, Japan, who will attend York High School for the 2013-2014 school year
  • approval to amend the 2012-13 calendar to reflect the last day of school as Wednesday, May 29

Finally, after review of upcoming meetings, the board will take a vote on an item from closed session, employment of an employee, and share any communications.
