Elmhurst College Welcomes Its First Female Chairman

Barbara Lucks, alumna and long-time trustee, was named chairman of the college's board of trustees last month. She is the first woman to ever hold that position.

Lucks has been a member of the board since 1991. She has served in several vital roles, including chairman of the Development Committee and, most recently, vice chairman of the board. The graduate of Elmhurst College's Class of 1973 is an attorney with a practice in Columbus, Ohio.

"I'm honored to have been chosen to lead the trustees at a time when the college is accomplishing so much," she said in a prepared statement. "I look forward to working with the faculty and administration to expand our opportunities even further."

Lucks succeeds Kenne Bristol, who served a five-year stint as chairman. Bristol will remain active as a member of the board.

"Barb brings substantial experience and a commitment to the college, its history and its present needs and opportunities," Elmhurst College President S. Alan Ray said in the release from the college. "The cabinet and I very much look forward to working closely with her in her new role."
