District 205 School Board Expected to Approve Five-year Goals for All Areas of the Organization

Board also will vote on hiring a firm to conduct satisfaction survey of staff, students and community.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the administration building, 162 S. York St.

The meeting will be preceded by a closed session of the board to discuss student discipline, probable or imminent litigation and employment of an employee.

The first order of business in open session is public comment. Members of the public are invited to speak for up to three minutes on any topic.

Board members will then hear a report on goal setting through 2016-17 based on measured, key performance indicators in a number of areas: student learning and achievement, operations and organization effectiveness (business, food service, transportation, human resources, technology), communications and community relations, and financial planning and budget.

Representatives of three of the board's committees—Improvement and Policy, Finance and Operations, and Performance Management—will then update the board on any new business.

The superintendent's consent agenda includes three items:

  • approval to enter into a contract with Harris Poll School Pulse for $29,250 to conduct a district satisfaction survey. The administration wants to assess the workplace, culture and satisfaction level of students, staff and parents to provide a clear direction for improvement.
  • approval of district goals based on the key performance indicators (mentioned above)
  • approval to post administrator and teacher salary and benefits for 2012 on the district website

Board members will then review upcoming meetings, vote on the closed session item related to student discipline and share any additional reports or communications.

I agree with you but I don't know if we as just citizen's can do anything to stop that practice. IRead More wish that each cyclist had to have a license, and that it was enforced by laws and police, on the bike so that people could report occurrences and have the person receive a ticket just like a person driving an auto. That would make sense.

A couple of years ago, Villa Park installed "State Law- must stop for pedestrians" signsRead More on the roadways where the Great Western and Prairie Paths cross. I saw a big increase in path users barreling across the streets with no regard for the stop signs on the path.

I was really hoping that the Elmhurst Police would sound in on this info-I do understand kids willRead More be kids, but if one of them is hurt, that adult driver will need to live with that for the rest of their life-so let's come up with a solution for both bicyclist and cars to be in harmony. I really think that a step up in enforcement in the bicycle laws would help-just like the drunk driving laws-believe me the bicycle laws are just as important.
