Bryan Middle School Production of 'The King and I' is Friday and Saturday

"Getting To Know ... The King And I," will hit the stage at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Bryan Middle School, 111 W. Butterfield Road.

Based on the 1944 novel, Anna and the King Of Siam by Margaret Landon, which was turned into a stage musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein and a 1956 film starring Yul Brynner, this is the classic tale of East meets West.

English widow Anna Leonowens is hired as school teacher by the King of Siam to tutor his many children and wives.

The play follows Anna and her young son and their life at the Royal Palace. Anna and the King are in constant conflict, but the King is driven to modernize his country, and Anna is just the person to help. Anna and the King grow to understand each another, while retaining their respective traditions and values.

Anna is played by Tatum Langley, and the King of Siam is played by Billy Reich. Other cast members include:
