He holds a bachelor of arts and master of science degrees in physical education from Augustana College (1983) and Eastern Illinois University (1984), an educational leadership/superintendent endorsement from Loyola University (2003) and has completed the course work and comprehensive examinations for the doctoral program in educational leadership at Aurora University. He anticipates receiving his doctor of education degree later this year.

While with the Regional Office of Education, Glimco coordinated a major restructuring and staffing plan for all alternative services run directly by the Regional Office, including truancy programs, Regional Safe School and the GED program. He coordinated focused dialogues between school districts, community colleges and local business boards to explore issues regarding college/career readiness and entry level post secondary courses, as well as dual credit opportunities for high school seniors.

In District 129, Glimco led a school restructuring initiative with the goal of increasing academic opportunities for all students, including targeted interventions for at-risk students and focused strategies to increase student achievement.

He served as the lead administrator for Student Activities in Indian Prairie and Lyons Township, increasing student participation in clubs and organizations. He was named Illinois Activities Director of the Year and has been honored by the Illinois State Board of Education through its Those Who Excel recognition program.

“I am quite familiar with Elmhurst School District 205 and know that it is a dynamic educational community, growing from a rich tradition of excellence," Glimco said. "The opportunity to be part of the leadership of this district and to help continue to foster the growth and development of all learners is a great honor.”

He will replace Brad Hillman, who has been named District 205’s new assistant superintendent of human resources.  Both will begin their duties on July 1.
