Santa Has Gone To The Dogs

Santa posed for photos with dogs at a Great Lakes Lab Rescue event.

Everyone knows that this is Santa’s busiest time of the year, but the man in red took a moment to pose for pictures with some lucky dogs last Saturday at the Bow Wow Playground in Villa Park.

Great Lakes Lab Rescue, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization based out of Elmhurst, kicked off the Holiday season with a craft fair and pet photo fund-raiser.

"We love Santa!" says Patty Ilg, founder of the rescue. "Dave Comer has volunteered as our Santa for nine years, and he is the best. And our photographer Maggie Blaszcyk really knows how to bring out the best in the dogs."

"When we saw the great photos from last year, we marked our calendars to make sure we didn’t miss the event this year," she said.

After the photo shoot, dogs played in the doggie daycare while their families shopped for Holiday gifts.

"We had a lot of great vendors this year offering a everything from jewelry and apparel to home décor and kitchenware," Ilg said.

All proceeds benefit Great Lakes Lab Rescue.

"Nearly every dollar we raise goes to the medial bills and care of our Labs," Ilg said.
