Elmhurst Makes the List of Top 10 Cities in Illinois

It's the second time in recent months Elmhurst has been recognized by a national real estate firm.

Yes, Elmhurst has its share of problems—flooding, a few undeveloped properties downtown. But an article posted today, Oct. 22, on Movoto Real Estate's blog reminds us not to lose sight of the good stuff here. You know, the BIG picture.

In its ranking of the 10 Best Cities in Illinois, Movoto Real Estate, a national brokerage firm, ranks Elmhurst at No. 5.

"Here at Movoto Real Estate, we’ve been ranking cities all over the country—and many times, even discussing places as far away as London or the Mushroom Kingdom. So we thought, why not bring it a little closer to home and really focus in the best cities in one state in particular?"

The list was compiled based on amenities like shopping and dining, cost of living, crime, education, employment and home value. Cities were ranked with a score from 1 to 50 in each of the criteria.

Movoto called Elmhurst a "cultural mini-mecca," with its Theatre Historical Society of America and the Elmhurst Art Museum. It cites the "low crime rate, a great education system and an average household income of $85,000."

Taking the top spot was Northbrook, followed by Highland Park and Glenview.
