Elmhurst Home Sales Up Nearly 30 Percent Over Last Year

Median sales price soars to $360,000 from $280,000 year over year in Elmhurst.

The 53 single, detached homes sold in Elmhurst during September 2013 represents a 29.3 percent increase over September 2012, when just 41 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

There were 57 homes sold in Elmhurst during August 2013.

As the number of homes sold increased in Elmhurst, the median home price also increased by about the same percentage, nearly 30 percent. The median price increased to $360,000 from $280,000 in September 2012, according to the statistics.

In DuPage County, Darien experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, 186 percent, but that shakes out to just about 13 houses, from seven to 20. 

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
