Stormwater Mitigation Will be the Focus of Committee Meeting Tonight

Should sump pumps and downspouts on private residences be disconnected from the storm sewer system? Public comment is welcome at all meetings Monday.

Elmhurst City Council members will meet in their standing committees at 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, June 10, at about 7:15 p.m. 

Stormwater mitigation is the main topic of discussion at the Public Works and Buildings Committee. Discussion topics include direct connection of sump pumps and downspouts on residential properties, development of a sanitary policy, adoption of a stormwater ordinance and review of bids for sanitary sewer lining and long-term sanitary flow monitoring. The committee also will discuss resurfacing of the parking lot at City Hall, and construction engineering services for the St. Charles Road resurfacing project.

Development, Planning and Zoning Committee will discuss the rezoning of 140 W. Industrial Drive from C3 classification (general commercial) to I1 (restricted industrial). The site is occupied by a single-story office/warehouse building. The committee also will hear a presentation on the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee will review sewer rates for well users, and the draft tax increment financing and sales tax incentive policy.

Elmhurst City Council also will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday to discuss the Hahn Street request for proposals. Prior to the special meeting, at 6:15 p.m., the council will hold a review and training session for elected officials.

Public comment is welcome at all of the meetings, which will be held at City Hall, 209 N. York St.
