Stormwater Discussion Heads to the Public Works Committee

Elmhurst City Council members will meet in their four standing committees at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at , 209 N. York St.

Public Works and Buildings Committee will start off its meeting by reviewing the Sanitary Subcommittee report . Other agenda items include continued discussion of the refuse and recycling program, right-of-way acquisition status, and Wireless mesh WIFI network for Water SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, used for measuring and managing water.

Development, Planning and Zoning Committee has two items on its agenda:

  • Case Number 11ZBA-08: Request for front yard setback and lot coverage variations for the purpose of constructing an unenclosed front porch at 130 N. Larch Ave.
  • Case Number 12 P-04: Request for Conditional Use Permit for the purpose of establishing an office use in the R5 Specialty Residence District on property commonly known as 185 S. York Street

Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee will continue its review of insurance recommendations from the Insurance Committee, and review the AT&T/Centrex contract renewal.

Following are agenda topics for the Public Affairs and Safety Committee:

  • Pint's Oktoberfest
  • Mary Queen of Heaven 5-K Run
  • Virginia Lane Townhome overnight parking
  • Traffic control staff for Safe Routes to School
  • Bid results for a 2013 Toyota Prius hybrid and a 2013 Ford Fusion hybrid

Public comment is invited at all four committee meetings.

A Look Ahead

The city of Elmhurst announced last week it hired Tracy Cross & Associates to "maximize stakeholder involvement and redevelopment success" for the . The firm is performing a market and feasibility study of the highest and best use for redevelopment in the central business district.

At the regular City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, Tracy Cross & Associates will offer a presentation on the market conditions of this area, as well as the region. The Council will then welcome comment and ideas from the public with regard to Hahn Street.

Tracy Cross & Associates will analyze the public comment, market conditions and redevelopment feasibility and give a final presentation to the City Council on Oct. 1.
