State Rep. and Union Pacific Host Train Ride to Promote Rail Safety

Nybo rides the rails with winners of his railroad safety poster contest April 16.

Dozens of area students and their families rode a Union Pacific train April 16 with State Rep. Chris Nybo (R-41st, Elmhurst) to learn about train safety through the legislator’s Railroad Safety Adventure.

“The Railroad Safety Adventure was a fun, hands-on experience for the children to not only learn about train safety but to ride on a real train," Nybo said. "It was great to see the kids’ excitement, and I look forward to offering more educational programs like this in Lombard, Villa Park, Elmhurst and other towns throughout the district."

Nybo hosted a Railroad Safety Adventure essay and poster contest for students of the district. The winners and their families, along with area Scout troops, were invited on the train ride from West Chicago to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union.
