Quinn appoints Jeff Redick of Elmhurst to Illinois Tollway Board of Directors

Redick among five new board members who will oversee $12 billion Tollway project.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has named Elmhurst resident Jeff Redick to the Illinois Tollway Board, which will oversee a funded by the Tollway's

Redick is one of five new directors on the board of nine.

The construction project is expected to last 15 years and includes the new western access to O'Hare airport.

Redick serves on the DuPage County Board, where he is chairman of the and vice chairman of the Development Committee, since 2006. Redick, who he would not seek re-election in 2012, works for the law firm of DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin.

According to a Chicago Tribune article, Cronin was a leader in pushing for the Elgin-O'Hare extension and western access to O'Hare.

Redick is quoted in the Tribune as saying, being on the tollway board "is an opportunity to put your fingerprint on the development of the whole (DuPage region)."

The other Quinn appointees are accountant David Gonzalez, a Democrat and mayor of Chicago Heights; James Sweeney, a Chicago Democrat and president of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local, based in Countryside; Republican Mark Peterson of Lincolnshire, president of Bridgeview Bank; and Shorewood Republican Terrence D'Arcy, president of auto dealerships in Joliet and founder of First Community Bank of Joliet.
