New Bridge Planned for Elmhurst, Villa Park

A bridge in Elmhurst will be replaced as part of a $2.9 million state capital construction program, according to a press release from the Office of Gov. Pat Quinn.

A bridge carrying Illinois Route 64/North Avenue over Salt Creek in Villa Park and Elmhurst will be replaced for $2,907,563 by Illinois Constructors Corporation of Elburn, the lowest of six bidders, according to the news release. The project will be overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

“Anyone living in the area can see how important North Avenue is to commuting and commerce,” State Senator Tom Cullerton, D-Villa Park, said. “Replacing this bridge is part of the effort to improve the efficiency and safety of our roadways.”
