League of Women Voters will Hold Candidate Forum Feb. 12

An information session on the electric aggregation referendum also will be held that day.

Elmhurst League of Women Voters and Elmhurst College are hosting two candidate forums and an information session on Elmhurst's electric aggregation referendum to help voters prepare for the primary elections March 20.

The sessions will all take place on Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Frick Center at Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect Ave.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 12 p.m.—League of Women Voters will register voters. Two forms of identification are required, one with photo and one with current residential address.
  • 1 p.m.—The two Republican candidates for Illinois Senate District 24 will address the issues.  Senator Kirk Dillard and Representative Chris Nybo are vying to be on the ballot in the newly drawn 24th District.
  • 2:30 p.m.—The League will present a nonpartisan informational session on the Elmhurst electric aggregation referendum.
  • 3 p.m.—The forum for candidates running in the DuPage County Board District 2 Republican primary race will begin. Seven candidates are expected to participate.

The League will moderate and supervise the forums. For the Senate race, a diverse panel of community representatives have been invited to participate in the questioning. The audiences for both forums will also be able to suggest questions for the candidates.

All sessions are free and open to the public.

The Illinois primary election is March 20. Because the Illinois election districts were redrawn and boundaries have changed since the last election, voters are advised to check with the DuPage County Election Commission to verify their election districts and polling places.
