Budget Discussion Wraps Up, and Committees Tackle Church Growth, Cool Cities Initiatives and More

Public comment is welcome at all committee meetings.

Elmhurst City Council members will spend one final evening discussing the 2014 budget as a Committee of the Whole on Monday, Nov. 25. That meeting will begin at about 8 p.m., after the city's standing committees have a chance to meet.

Committee meetings begin at 7 p.m. and public comment is welcome at all meetings.

Development, Planning and Zoning

  • Bethel United Church of Christ request for a conditional use permit for the construction of a fellowship hall and the renovation of a residence for use as an administrative center
  • Single-family home monotony policy: A guide used by the city to help architects and builders in creating varied designs to avoid homes appearing too similar to one another will be discussed.
  • Sustainability policy: sustainable environmental practices as an integral component of the city's leadership role in the community. Policy guidelines and programs will be discussed.

Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services

  • Review TIF incentive request from Yorky's Restaurant
  • Annual review and rate adjustment charged to Illinois American Water Company for sewerage treatment. The committee will discuss a rate increase to $2.894 per thousand gallons. The rate was $2.707 in 2013, and 2.525 in 2012. Yearly sanitary flow is about 1.75 billion gallons.
  • A review of the procurement auction process to reduce city expenditures by allowing vendors to bid down the price the city is currently paying for commodities

Public Affairs and Safety

  • Stop sign requests at Utley Road and Grace Avenue, and at May Street and Prairie Avenue
  • Purchase of one Toyota Camry SE
  • Review of the motor home/RV ordinance
  • Amendment to the part-time police officer ordinance

Public Works and Buildings

  • Stormwater upate
  • Sanitary system update
  • Bids for the mezzanine project at Elmhurst Public Works garage
  • Park Avenue lift station replacement - engineering
  • Saylor and Jackson lift station sewage grinder replacement
  • Elmhurst Water Reclamation Facility dissolved air flotation replacement project
  • Gladys right-of-way vacation
