Kirk Dillard Formally Announces Run For Governor

Dillard began a two-day "statewide fly-around" to publicize his candidacy, according to ABC 7 News.

Kirk Dillard (R-24th, Hinsdale) is flying around Illinois Monday and Tuesday to announce his candidacy for governor in the 2014 election, according to ABC 7 News

It will be the second such campaign for the Republican state senator, who counts Elmhurst residents among his constituents in the 24th District. He ran in 2010 and lost the GOP primary to Bill Brady by just 193 votes. 

State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, Brady and venture capitalist Bruce Rauner are the other Republicans who have announced their campaigns.

In a Facebook post Monday afternoon, Dillard posted a picture from his formal announcement speech.
