Candidates for Governor will Debate at Elmhurst College

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn and Republican state Sen. Bill Brady will debate on the Elmhurst College campus Sunday evening, Oct. 17. The event is free and open to the public, making it the best opportunity for residents of northern Illinois to attend a live debate in the race for governor. 

The debate will be hosted by the college in collaboration with WBEZ 91.5 FM, which will carry the event live. The moderator will be WBEZ's Steve Edwards.

The debate also will feature a panel that includes Phil Ponce, host of WTTW-Channel 11's Chicago Tonight; Bruce Dold, editorial page editor of the Chicago Tribune; and Dr. Jennifer Boyle, chairman of the Department of Political Science at Elmhurst College. The debate will focus on solutions to the state's economic crisis and other issues.

The debate begins at 8 p.m. in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel, 190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst, a historic venue where the college has welcomed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Elie Wiesel and other political and cultural leaders.

Seating is limited. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and no one will be admitted after 7:45 p.m.
