Elmhurst Settles with Woman Alleging Excessive 'Police Force'
City Council authorized $25,000 settlement between woman, city and local police officer
The city of Elmhurst and police Officer Arthur Ciszewski have reached a $25,000 settlement with a woman who alleged "too much police force" during her arrest, City Attorney Don Storino said Monday.
Elmhurst City Council on Monday approved the settlement agreement and mutual release of claims between the city, Ciszewski and Linda Wotjas.
The circumstances of Wotjas's arrest have not yet been released. Police Chief Steve Neubauer deferred questions to Storino.

Resident Claude Pagacz, a regular at Elmhurst City Council meetings, mentioned the incident and the council's Finance Committee during Monday's public forum.
"I tend to read the newspaper and I can understand why the Finance Committee is having a hard time ... legal fees," he said. "A police officer and a woman got into a little issue."
